I really want to say that we were in very clever mood when we purchased this week’s wines, but we weren’t it was just an awesome happenstance that we ended up with a farm theme wines. This week we tried “Pink Truck”, a rose wine from California with a little something for both boys and girls; a truck for the boys and it pink for the girls or if you think I’m being sexist strike that and reverse it. Our second choice for the night was “Tarquino” from Argentina whose bottle looked like a cow, which yes is the reason we chose it. Everyone knows the look of the bottle and how much we like the name plays an integral part in our decision making process and we like cows.

In the last few months Wednesday Wine Night has become very popular in our social group. Everyone wants in; I mean it is justifiable midweek drinking who wouldn’t want in? So it’s not uncommon for someone who not a regular to join us, this was the first week in a while that it was just our standard cast and crew which made it nice and chill, sort of a Wine Night Classic.
This Week on Wednesday Wine Night, the group sampled a Sparkling Raspberry from Weibel Vineyards. Then they decided why stop now and tried a Chardonnay called Cupcake by Central Coast and that’s not all, they washed down the Cupcake with a malt beverage (it didn’t call itself wine on the bottle but it tasted enough like wine for us, so it counts) Verdi Spumante. This week was a popular one we ended up having 8 people show up for wine night. It is quickly becoming the place to be on a Wednesday night. We tried “Pillar Box Red” from Australia and “Castle Rock” from California.
Henry’s Drive Vignerons – Pillar Box Red
The pillar box was a red blend which Dante, Chad, and Bridget are usually big fans of, though this one didn’t make their palates cut. Chad went so far as to say the Pillar Box tasted like plastic. Bridget was right there with Chad give it a fairly low rating of “Tastes like shit”. Thaddeus thought the bite it had at the end killed the fact that it started off sweet for a red. Dante put the nails in the coffin sealing the fate of this poor bottle, rating it “Like drinking bong water”. Though we’ve had much worse and it will get you drunk at 14.5%, overall no one liked it. It’s not likely one we will try again.
